KAMPALA, UGANDA — The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Marasa Africa have signed fresh 30-year concession agreements covering Paraa Safari Lodge, Mweya Safari Lodge and Chobe Safari Lodge — extending a relationship that has linked the Authority with one of East Africa’s foremost hospitality companies for decades.
Securing the Next Three Decades
At a signing ceremony bringing together both organizations, Mr. Mr KP Eswar, Director- Corporate Affairs, put pen to paper for Marasa Africa, while Dr. James Musinguzi, Executive Director of UWA, signed for the Authority.
More than a contractual formality, the renewal opens the door to deeper tourism investment, richer visitor experiences and continued careful stewardship of the protected areas the lodges call home. Paraa and Chobe sit within Murchison Falls National Park, and Mweya within Queen Elizabeth National Park — three of the country’s premier wildlife destinations.
Tourism, Conservation and Community
Marasa Africa, part of the Madhvani Group, runs luxury safari lodges across some of Uganda & Kenya’s premier national parks. Both parties see the renewal as an endorsement of the values that have anchored the partnership from the start: sustainable tourism, conservation and excellence in service.
The benefits are expected to reach well beyond the parks’ gates — sustaining jobs for Ugandans, sharpening the competitiveness of the national tourism sector and feeding into the country’s broader socio-economic development for years to come.
“We are delighted to renew our partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Authority for another 30 years. For decades, Paraa, Mweya, and Chobe have welcomed guests from around the world to Uganda’s most spectacular landscapes, and this renewal allows us to keep investing in world-class visitor experiences while supporting conservation and the communities around the parks. We look forward to working with UWA to showcase the very best of Uganda.”
Mike Rourke — Director of Tourism, Marasa
