Joining hands for a better Uganda: Marasa Africa joins the nation for National Cleaning Day

As communities, organisations and national authorities came together across the country, Marasa Africa was proud to take part in the initiative through Paraa Safari Lodge and Silverback Lodge.

Uganda’s inaugural National Cleaning Day marked an important nationwide commitment to environmental care, public health and shared responsibility.

As communities, organisations and national authorities came together across the country, Marasa Africa was proud to take part in the initiative through Paraa Safari Lodge and Silverback Lodge.

At Murchison Falls National Park, the Paraa Safari Lodge team joined the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in clearing waste and caring for the surrounding environment. In south-western Uganda, the Silverback Lodge team worked alongside UWA and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to support the protection of the ancient rainforest surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Mike Rourke, Director of Tourism at Marasa Africa, reflected on the importance of the initiative:

“Experiencing Uganda’s extraordinary landscapes is a privilege, but protecting them for future generations is a responsibility we all share. We are proud to stand alongside communities and national authorities across Uganda in this important effort.”

These collective efforts play an important role in protecting the delicate ecosystems that surround our lodges and support Uganda’s tourism industry.

Through its participation in National Cleaning Day, Marasa Africa reaffirms its commitment to responsible tourism and the long-term protection of Uganda’s natural heritage. It is also a reminder that local communities, visitors, tourism operators and authorities all have a role to play in preserving these remarkable destinations.
